The competition was held under the aegis of the European Association of Groomers.
More than 30 participants from Moscow, the Moscow region, Belgorod, Ekaterinburg, Kaluga, Nizhny Novgorod, St. Petersburg, Yaroslavl, as well as from Kazakhstan and Ukraine were fighting for the right to be acknowledged as the best.
Competitions were held in five categories: shaving breed, trimming breed, spaniels and setters, poodles, mixed breed dogs in the classes: Open, Champions and Beginning groomer.
The struggle among the participants was not only the first, second and third places. The best groomers in each of the four categories (except the mixed breed dogs) have the opportunity to take part in the World Championships in grooming as a member of the Russian national team. Championships will be held in September this year in Barcelona.
Among the members of the jury were the well-known experts from different countries:
- Umberto Lehmann ‒ President of the European Grooming Association (E.G.A.) and President of the Italian Grooming Association (A.T.I.);
- Kitty Dekeersgieter (Belgium) ‒ Kitty is an international grooming contest judge, board member of the European Grooming Association.
- Shaunna Bernardin (Canada) ‒ professional groomer, international grooming contest judge. She also presents seminars in Canada, USA, England, Scotland, Uruguay and Italy, being a Wahl Representative for a long time.
On the first day of competition the first place in their categories won:
Anna Bardysheva (poodle), Elena Vassilieva (trimming), Irene Kuklikova (shaving) and Svetlana Sinitsyna (Cocker Spaniel) ‒ which was also the winner of the Best in Show. All of them will represent Russia at the World Championships in Barcelona in September of that year.
On May 25 competition continued. Competitions were held in classes "Pet-haircut" and "Show of zoo stylists". Moreover, the visitors together with a competent jury could also have chosen a better professional in the creative grooming, awarding him the Audience Award.
There were also the winners in the categories "Groomer of the Year" and "Best Salon of the Year".
At the end of the second day of competition in the class of zoo stylists the winner was Lyudmila Funkner with Yorkshire terrier and the Audience Award went to Olga Zinoviev, who masterfully transformed the Bedlington terrier into Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle.

Best in the class "Pet-haircut" was Irina Kuklikova also with Bedlington terrier. The best salon in Moscow was recognized the grooming salon "Bailey Grooming".

Special prizes were also given to  groomers: Elena Khokhlova with Yorkshire terrier (the most popular breed), Anna Zhukova with spitz (the best work) and Gregory Gubaryov as the only man groomer, who took part in the competition.
All participants received certificates and the winners ‒ prizes and gifts from the organizers and sponsors.
We wish our groomers victory at the World Championship in Barcelona!
